My Family and Other Animals

My brother, Murtaza, my sister-in-law, Zainab and, my 5 year old niece, Rashida, live in Seattle. Rashida is a very large part of my life: she and I spend a lot of time together, working on projects, going hiking, doing science experiments and just pottering about. We made a movie of all the experiments we did and now are on a quest to make as many Lego car models as possible. Soon we will start working on Lego MindStorm Robots and our first attempt will be to build a robot that follows a line on the floor.

My parents also visit Seattle often. When they do, our weekends are packed with camping or hiking trips. On weekdays my mom spends her time at the University of Washington library, doing some research of her own. Currently she is studying, with some help from me, medieval Ismaili philosophy. My dad usually potters around the garden, being on a mission to kill, once and for all, those pesky weeds that keep sprouting up.
